All elected annually except for the treasurer who (for reasons of continuity regarding club bank account holder) is only elected on stepping down or on a committee vote to replace.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eThe club will hold regular committee meetings to discuss club business and future activities.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eThe club values the diversity of its membership and membership applications are welcome from people regardless of age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; sexual orientation. Whilst every attempt is made to be fully inclusive should you have a specific requirement not currently catered for then please contact a member of the committee.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eEvery individual wishing to join the club shall complete an application on the club website\u0026nbsp;agreeing to the club rules. New members may have a free guest membership lasting three months or two\u0026nbsp;rides (whichever comes first)\u0026nbsp; after which they must pay for a year\u0027s full membership before taking part in club activities.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eFull Membership lasts for a year starting on the date payment is received, or the end of the free membership period (i.e. joining early doesn\u0027t forfeit the free period).\u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eA renewal offer will be made close to\u0026nbsp;membership expiry. Anyone whose\u0026nbsp;membership has expired shall not take part in club activities until their subscription is paid.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eAll members will be given advance notice of the Annual General Meeting of the club\u0027s committee. Any items for inclusion in the AGM shall reach the Secretary at least 14 days before the meeting.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eThe committee reserves the right to terminate membership of any member who breaks the rules of the club, or whose conduct in the opinion of the committee has rendered them unsuitable for membership of the club, or whose behaviour is having a significant adverse effect within the club or on the reputation of the club.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eMembership is ONLY open to persons 18 years old and over. Due to the minefield of child protection issues, we don\u0027t accept under 18s as members.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\u003c/ol\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSection B - Ride proposing (via the club calendar) \u0026 Route Leading\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eRides posted on the club\u0027s rides calendar will be organised by a route leader. The purpose of the route leader is solely to show (to the best of their ability) the route to other riders.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eRoute leaders will provide an estimate (to the best of their ability) of the skill level and fitness level required for a ride.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eRiders will use ride skill and fitness estimates and the \u003ca href=\u0022Skill+Fitness+and+Pace+guidelines\u0022\u003eSkill and Fitness Estimates Explanation\u003c/a\u003e (which form part of the rules) as a guide to check that they are fit enough and have the skill required to take part in a proposed ride. If riders do not believe they have the skill or fitness shown then they should not attend the ride.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eSkill and fitness values are only estimates. They are highly subjective. Furthermore, conditions of any route can change on the day depending on for example weather, route diversions, modifications to bridleways etc. Hence all riders should ride within their own abilities and exercise their own judgement whilst on a ride.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eThere will be rides posted in the calendar where the route leader has not previously ridden the route. In such situations the leader will still attempt to provide an estimate of skill level and fitness level to the best of their ability.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eThe route leader has the right to refuse, either on the day or in advance, another member or a guest rider from taking part in a ride.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\u003c/ol\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSection C - Riding Etiquette\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eHelmets must be worn and securely fastened\u0026nbsp;on all club rides.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eRiders are responsible for making sure that their bikes are well maintained, UK road legal,\u0026nbsp;fit for proposed club rides and do not present an unnecessary hazard to themselves or other riders.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eRiders are responsible for making sure that they carry adequate supplies of food, drink, equipment, clothing and repair kit whilst on rides.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eAll riders will show respect and courtesy for other users of the countryside - remember you are representing MMB!\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eWhilst on rides, if a rider opens a gate, the same rider is responsible for shutting it. This helps keep the group together and riding at the same overall pace.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eRiders should slow down significantly, or where necessary stop and dismount, around horses.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eAll riders on club rides will avoid entering into argument or confrontation with landowners or other users of the countryside wherever possible.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eAll riders should minimise their impact on the countryside wherever possible. This means for example not dropping litter, not damaging trails by skidding, not damaging fences or dry stone walls etc.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eWhen riding on road, all club members should follow the Highway Code.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\u003c/ol\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\t\t\t\t\t\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSection D - Guest Memberships\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eWhen people apply to become a \u0022Guest Member\u0022 of the club, they are given \u0022Guest Member\u0022 access to the club website. This lasts 3 months. After 3 months, Guest Members will have their access to the site withdrawn unless they have applied to become a Full Member.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eGuest Members may complete two rides before being invited to join in full.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eThere will be a maximum of five Guest Members per ride (This is a condition of the club\u0027s Cycling UK insurance). Route leaders should use the club\u0027s calendar to make sure that there are no more than five Guest Members on a ride they will be leading.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eClub members must not bring personal guests (ie \u0022unregistered\u0022 guests) along to club rides. Anyone wanting to ride with the club must apply (and be accepted) as a \u0022Guest Member\u0022 of the club. The only exception to this is that the Ride Leader may bring unregistered guests known to them on their own rides - but such guests count towards the limit above and any individual should only join club rides twice before being a member.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eGuest members cannot lead routes as they are not covered under the club\u0027s insurance to do so.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\u003c/ol\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSection E - Other Business\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eAll members must have a valid and active email address registered on the club website.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eClub members must not bring personal guests along to club rides. (Anyone wanting to ride with the club must apply (and be accepted) as a \u0022Guest Member\u0022 of the club)\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eShould any rider object to any photographs of themselves on the \u003ca href=\u0022https://manchestermountainbikers.org\u0022\u003eclub website\u003c/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\u0022https://www.facebook.com/manchestermountainbikers\u0022\u003epublic Facebook page\u003c/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\u0022https://www.facebook.com/groups/manchestermountainbikers\u0022\u003eprivate Facebook group\u003c/a\u003e\u0026nbsp;they should contact a member of the committee to arrange removal/deletion.\u003c/li\u003e\n\t\t\t\t\t\u003cli\u003eIf a club member has their membership terminated by the club\u0027s committee, they will be offered a partial refund of their membership fee.
